Experienced Data Engineer (medior/senior/tech lead)

Antwerpen, Vlaams Gewest, BelgiumClient Services

Job description

As an experienced data engineer, building solid data solutions and infrastructure is what you do best.

But maybe you wonder …

Am I still ahead of the data game? Can I make enough impact and leave a happy customer behind? Can I partake in building expertise and designing new solutions and accelerators to optimize the work that we deliver? Do I need a new challenge in my career to develop myself further?

Tropos was founded in 2017 as a niche boutique consultancy in data engineering. We believe that focus allows us to build the expertise that really matters to our customers and translates directly into data-driven efficiency gains.

Tropos offers strategic business consulting to customers in the design and decision phase of building futureproof, integrated and flexible data solutions. In the actual building phase - thanks to our focus on continuous improvement and automation - we can have a bigger impact with a smaller team. A team that is end-to-end involved in delivering high-quality data solutions to our customers and in the further development of Tropos.

We built strong relationships with the technology partners that work best for us at this moment. That’s how we became premier partner for Snowflake and dbt Labs and select partner for AWS.

In terms of company culture:

  • We value a can-do and no-nonsense attitude (buzzwords are a no-go)

  • We complement, support and encourage each other throughout our neverending learning journey.

  • We maintain an innovative and entrepreneurial startup mentality and we embrace the principles of Lean and Agile in our daily work.

  • Amongst colleagues, we like to spice things up with good team spirit and a touch of humor.

As a medior/ senior data engineer:

  • You build high-quality data solutions and infrastructure in a project context;

  • Most of the time you work together with other colleagues on a project but you are also able to, occasionally, work independently on a smaller project

  • You communicate and follow up on progress in an agile way (sprint cycles, demos, …) and you translate tasks in bite-sized chunks (stories) for less experienced colleagues

  • You build and share knowledge with your colleagues and the customer and you coach them toward knowledge and confidence

  • A flexible and hybrid way of working: a healthy mix between home & on-site work;

  • An onboarding plan and a supportive environment with lots of opportunities to learn and grow

  • A well-connected team by regular company updates, quarterly meetings, knowledge-sharing moments and team activities;

  • A competitive salary package including extra-legal benefits such as a company car, laptop, smartphone, mobility budget, cafetaria plan, profit premium, hospitalization- & group insurance, meal vouchers, …

💡 Interested? Apply know!

If we think there could be a match, we’ll invite you for a short intake interview via video call with room for questions on both sides.

*We value and respect the different backgrounds, experiences, personalities, talents, and limitations that everybody brings to the table.

Job requirements

  • Eager to learn and hands-on;

  • Analytical, a natural problem solver, and a quick thinker;

  • Passionate about technology & people and able to communicate with both;

  • A team player with a coaching attitude and a growth mindset towards oneself and others;

  • Fluent in Dutch and English, French is a plus and other languages a bonus;

  • Relevant experience in data engineering and cloud, preferably in a consulting context

  • Basic knowledge of a programming language (e.g. SQL, Python, Matlab, HCL)

  • You have a bachelor's or master's degree in STEM or a natural affinity for logical thinking.
